Strictly Silk Is Back: Presenting Strictly Silk At Home

Our last Strictly Silk event was the Strictly Silk Amsterdam Edition, in February of 2020. Our Njeri and Akati, alongside our SS day ones Coco Em and Miss Ray, went for our first international edition, which was held in collaboration with our partners the Prince Claus Fund, and their friends Mama Cash! This was just before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has ravaged the world in ways that have affected us all.

Fashion Scout X Creative DNA presents WAUZINE: Creative Direction by Sunny Dolat

Our very own Sunny Dolat is the creative director of WAUZINE—a limited three-issue digital publication by the British Council East Africa Arts Programme through Creative DNA! This was done in partnership with Mettā Nairobi, Fashion Scout UK and our sister company HEVA Fund, and features 11 emerging designers from Kenya. WAUZINE is a digital showcase that brings together cross cultural collaborations between writers, illustrators and creative teams in Nairobi and London. The WAUZINE body of work includes 3 issues of an online magazine, and a fashion film!

Sudu Connexion’s AFROFUTURISTIK: Featuring We Need Prayers

We are excited to announce that This One Went To Market, an episode from our series We Need Prayers, featuring Patricia Kihoro and Hilda Gichungo, has been included in Sudu Connexion’s 6th edition of Quartiers Lointains, their short film touring program! The edition, called AFROFUTURISTIK, is a program also featuring other African sci-fi short films from Morocco (via filmmaker Sofia Alaoui), Rwanda (via filmmaker Kantarama Gahigiri), Nigeria (via filmmaker C.J.Obasi), and Congo (via filmmaker Baloji).

Apollo 40 Under 40 Event: Jim Chuchu In Conversation

Apollo, one of the oldest and most respected visual art publications internationally, selected our very own Jim as one of 10 African artists for their 40 under 40 list last year (more on that here, and find the full list of African honorees here)! This coming Monday, Jim will take part in an Apollo 40 under 40 Africa event titled ‘History in the Making’, exploring the question ‘How has historic art influenced and shaped the ways contemporary art is made and viewed?’
