“More Than Words”: Now Available For Purchase!

Our long-awaited illustrated book of queer stories, “More Than Words”, is now available for purchase! “More Than Words” brings together selected autobiographical words from the Stories of Our Lives documentary archive and new works of romance, young-adult, sci-fi, and fantasy fiction stories, sprinkled with original commissioned illustrations to expand further into black, African queer experiences.

“More Than Words” features illustrations from talented artists from around the world: Precious Narotso (Kenya), Anthony Muisyo (Kenya), Naddya Oluoch-Olunya (Kenya), Royal Dunlap (USA), Ahad Mahmood (UK), and Sajan Rai (UK), bringing to life elements from the archive, as well as the electric additions; “Room 18” & “Body” by Jim Chuchu, and “Forever Hold Your Peace” by Dr. Akati Khasiani.

We aspired to expand beyond prevalent focus on abusive incidents surrounding queer existence, and catch glimpses of the quiet moments of calm in everyday life, from the sweet and intense, to the wild and futuristic!
