Future Textile Heritages: ‘Nanga’, by Sunny Dolat
To close out our 3-part series of the online public conversations from our hybrid online Stroom Den Haag arts residency, Material Languages, our very own Sunny Dolat will be presenting his own project, Nanga! He will be exploring three elements: ritual textiles, contemporary African textiles, and sustainable textiles.
Sunny will discuss the connection between Kenya’s textile history and its identity crisis, exploring whether the truthful history of Kenya can be considered in creating more ‘honest’ textile designs, and if it is possible to move past the impenetrably challenging question of a centralised Kenyan identity, to create new and imaginative textile futures.
Register for the event here, and join Sunny today, Wednesday 2nd June 2021 from 8PM EAT for this engaging presentation!
