Nandi Flame: Second Run

We are really excited our first run of Nandi Flame did so phenomenally well! Due to the overwhelming demand, we are thrilled to inform you that we have a second run of Nandi Flame now available for purchase at the Textile Loft.

This run of Nandi Flame is printed on a light stretch satin in the same pale pink colorway, featuring the Nandi flame blossoms in their trademark stunning orange, juxtaposed alongside slate grey hummingbirds, with twigs and blossoms in rosier, more playful shades, for a breezy and whimsical finish. 

We are particularly proud to have printed this run locally at Spinners & Spinners in Ruiru, Kenya. S & S have 40 years’ experience making fiber, fabric and fashion, and have recently started offering digital printing as a service. As their first clients for this new offering, we have really enjoyed our learnings with them in our collaborations in bringing these textiles to life. 

We have been eager to explore the possibility of having the manufacturing of these textiles fully in Kenya. This is because it is important to build local companies and capacities, thus ensuring that more profits remain at home. That being said, local costs of manufacturing can skew quite high because of business challenges, such as higher costs of electricity and other inputs. We have, therefore, had to adjust our prices because the production cost per metre of this fabric is higher than the previous one.
