The Nest Collective x Stroom: ‘Material Languages’ Kickoff
We are excited to announce the kickoff series of online conversations to wrap our Stroom Den Haag residency, Our House, Your Home! Over the next couple weeks (11th May to 9th June), our very own Sunny Dolat, Jim Chuchu and Njoki Ngumi will be presenting and discussing ‘Material Languages’, a series of new artworks reflecting on how textiles help us unpack belonging, identity, culture and design. Sunny’s ‘Nanga’ explores contemporary African prints, as well as sustainable textiles, and undertakes new spiritual rituals; Jim’s ‘A Machine Dreams of African Print’ goes on an adventure to create new designs via AI and machine learning, and Njoki’s ‘What We Saw’ uses tapestry and quilting techniques to hold space for the energies that characterised challenging journeys through difficult times.
Material Languages kicked off this week, on Tuesday 11th May, 2021! See all the calendar dates of the upcoming public coming events here (with registration details to follow):
