The LAM Sisterhood Presents Mekatilili & Wangu: The Brazen Way
We were excited to finally share these long awaited comics, and even more thrilled with the amazing responses we’ve been getting. We are tremendously grateful to everyone who is reading and sharing them, as well as interacting about them on our socials. We appreciate every one of you!
To celebrate the launch, we partnered with Laura Ekumbo, Aleya Kassam and Anne Moraa—the three incredible poets, writers and performers of the LAM sisterhood—to bring you ‘Mekatilili and Wangu: The Brazen Way’. It is an homage from us to them, for their incredible work last year on the Too Early For Birds: Brazen Edition, where they did a glorious stage rendering of moments from the lives of these women and others, also reflecting deeply on their footprint in contemporary Kenyan society.
To celebrate the comic book launch, they are hosting an evening of storytelling and story-asking tonight (Friday 7th August 2020) celebrating the boldness and strength of these two eminent women in Kenyan history!
Join the LAM sisterhood today from 7.30pm (EAT) to hang out with them, discuss these stories and how they make us feel, and explore what they inspire us to think and do! To attend this one-of-a-kind online event, register here. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
