V&A Africa Fashion Conference
Our very own Sunny Dolat will be delivering the opening keynote speech at the Africa Fashion Conference in London this week! Inspired by the Africa Fashion exhibition, the Africa Fashion Conference will gather fashion luminaries and creatives from the continent to exchange ideas and knowledge about the fashion scene in Africa, whilst also celebrating the contemporary African creatives shifting the geography of global fashion.
The Africa Fashion Exhibition opened on 2nd July 2022 and has been showcasing garments from a selection of mid-twentieth century designers—Shade Thomas-Fahm, Chris Seydou, Kofi Ansah and Alphadi, exploring the work of the vanguard and the creative teams at the heart of this eclectic and cosmopolitan scene today. Sunny was a core part of the exhibition’s curatorial team, where he contributed his ideas, selections, networks, research, writing, strategy and reflections to the exhibition, not to mention his fashion film “In Their Finest Robes The Children Shall Return”, and excerpts from his short Looku.
The two day conference will be held on Friday 18th November 2022, and Saturday 19th November 2022, in the HochHauser Auditorium, at the V&A Museum. The event will also be livestreamed! Online tickets are available for £15. Book here for online tickets and here for on-site tickets (if you’re in London) to catch Sunny and other fashion creatives for this exciting, timely series of conversations!
