Open Call: Digital Art Curator Bootcamp + Exhibition Commission
Fak’ugesi, a South Africa-based festival that sits right at the intersection of arts, culture and tech in Africa, are hosting their African Digital Innovation Festival soon! Themed #PowerToThePixel, this year’s explorations consider the pixel as the smallest visual unit, alongside its ability to bridge divides and bring focus to our digital creativity. The festival this year will take place in 5 main online interventions throughout the month of September.
Fak’ugesi have an open call currently for people who would be interested in one of the pre-festival engagements, the Digital Art Curator Bootcamp and Exhibition Commission! This aims to power up the curatorial focus among curators themselves, as well as in producers and advocates of digital creativity. Our very own Jim Chuchu and Dr. Njoki Ngumi will be guest speakers at the bootcamp, alongside other curators and producers from around the world, where they will be exploring the ways the Nest’s work engages audiences in the creation and exhibition processes.
This online experiential gathering will be running for five days (29 July- 6 August) and will enjoy a close look at interactive digital arts for online engagement and digital exhibition practices. Participants will then be invited to send a proposal for their very own exhibition to be one of 5 which will be commissioned by the Festival Exhibition Commission. The deadline for the applications is 28th July 2020.
